Security is a premium commodity right now. The world is as uncertain as it has been for a long time, the threat of war, the cost of living ever increasing I could go on.
If you can make a user feel secure, whatever it is you’re designing I think now more than ever that will go a long way to a successful UX.
Ways you can make a user feel secure by building trust and confidence:
- A solid and dependable UI Make sure your UI isn’t glitchy, animations are smooth and there are as few rough edges as possible.
- Consistency Repeat core experiences and interactions across your site.
- Familiarity Make your site as familiar to your users as you can.
- Set expectations Your UI should make it explicit what it’s going to do when the user takes an action.
- Quick Load times Keep the load times low.
- Social indicators of trust Show that real humans have used and been happy with your website or service. Nothing beats an advocate with a relatable voice.
- Prominent support Offer help when you know your users may need it most.
If you hit these goals you’re in with a good shout of making your users feel as comfortable and cosy as they can!
